Privacy Policy

This page describes what UK Menu Prices actually does with data, in plain terms. It is written for this site specifically rather than copied from a template, so if something is not listed here, it is not happening.

What we collect ourselves

Only what you give us when you sign up for the newsletter, and nothing at all if you do not. There is no account, no login and no comment form, and nothing on this site asks for your name or email before you can read it.

The newsletter

When you sign up we store your email address, your first name if you gave one, the page you signed up on, the date, and the exact wording of the consent line shown under the form. We store it so we can send you the updates you asked for, and the lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

The list is held in a database in our own Cloudflare account, and it is not sold, shared or passed to an advertiser. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops all emails at once and marks the address as unsubscribed, which is how we make sure it is never emailed again; if you would rather the record were deleted entirely, ask through the contact page and we will remove it.

To stop the form being abused, each sign-up attempt records a scrambled one-way code made from your connection's IP address, never the address itself, and those codes are deleted after 24 hours.

Location on the near-me pages

The “near me” pages can sort branches by distance from you. When you press that button, your browser asks your permission and then hands the coordinates to code running in your own browser, which does the sorting there. Those coordinates are never transmitted to us, never written to storage, and disappear when you close the tab. Decline the permission and the rest of the page stays fully usable.

Third parties that may load

Two Google services can run on this site, and each only when it has been configured:

  • Google Analytics 4 measures which pages are read, using cookies. It tells us that a page was visited, not who you are.
  • Google AdSense serves the advertising, and may use cookies to select ads. Google's own policies govern that processing, and you can review your ad settings in your Google account.

Fonts are served from this domain, not from Google Fonts, so no request goes to a font provider. Branch data is served from here too. One exception to note: the small brand logos in the navigation are currently fetched from Google's favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons), so your browser makes a request to Google for each one. Those are being moved to this domain in the images phase; until then this page says so. We do not embed social widgets, chat boxes, heatmap tools or A/B testing scripts.

Cookies and consent

A consent banner is required in the UK under PECR for the analytics and advertising cookies described above, and it is on the build list before those tags go live. We are stating that plainly rather than claiming a banner that is not yet running.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what personal data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, withdraw consent and object to processing. The only personal data we hold ourselves is the newsletter list, and a request about it goes through the contact page. Requests about analytics or advertising concern Google's processing, and Google's own tools are the direct route. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If what this site does changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. It is not a document we intend to leave stale.

UK Menu Prices is an independent information website and is not affiliated with the restaurant brands listed. Prices vary by branch and may change; trademarks belong to their respective owners.
